Coronavirus Update

STILL OPEN FOR BUSINESS with added precautions in these difficult times.
I am operating a “drive-through” service where we carry out most elements of the work in advance by email/telephone/Skype. I will then prepare your document(s) so that you can park in our carpark and sign in your car, under my watch, whilst maintaining social distancing. I will take your document(s) inside to notarise and scan, then bring back the notarised document(s) to you in your car. There is plenty of free parking at the rear of our office, 503 Coventry Road, Birmingham, B10 0LL.

There are alternative options for those who are unable to travel to me, including me travelling to you and keeping the recommended distance at your door. (Please note that the UK Foreign & Commonwealth Office and Foreign Embassies may not be operating a full Apostille/Legalisation Service during the Crisis. When you contact me, I can ascertain the latest position. Otherwise please check the Foreign Office Legalisation website at: and the website of the relevant Embassy concerned.)
Many thanks and Stay Well, Raj Padhiar - Notary Public England and Wales

What does a Notary Public do?

A Notary Public can notarise documents for use all over the world. The documents have to be signed in the presence of a Notary Public appointed by the Court or by Royal Authority. Thethe notaries society Notary has to be satisfied that the person signing has been correctly identified and that he or she understands the nature of the document and the legal implications of it. The Notary will witness the signatures and affix their own signature and Seal of Office.

The need for a notary public is dictated by the requirements of the country where the document is to be used. For example, if you wish to buy a property abroad, it is often necessary to give your overseas lawyer power to deal with the purchase. This can be done by means of a power of attorney, which is signed by you in front of a notary. The notary public will confirm your name and identity and sign the document and seal it with their official seal.

As an example, Doctors or Teachers or any one migrating to Austrailia, New Zealand, Dubai or any parts of the Middle East or America will require Documents to be Notarised.

What is Apostille or Legalisation?

A notarised document may often need to be further authenticated by having the U.K. Foreign and Commonwealth Office confirm the validity of the notary's signature and seal. The requirement for this will depend on the foreign country involved. This is done by legalisation by the use of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office's official certificate attached to the document, known as an apostille. These are internationally recognised due to the Hague Convention.
